Another year is coming to a close, so let’s take a look back at how 2019 has treated us at The Optical Studio!
We Expanded Our Family
In 2018, we acquired Emslie Optometrists in Dorking, and after a lot of work to update not just the looks but the technology and equipment too, we launched the store as a new addition to the Optical Studio group this year. We wanted to offer current and new patients the same level of quality and service that they were used to, while also offering access to better diagnostic equipment and even more accurate referrals.
One of the ways in which we decided to offer Dorking residents better eye health care was to introduce a state of the art new advanced eye scan. Our Optos Monaco machine not only produces ultra wide-field retinal imaging, but it also includes OCT scanning to produce a layered, 3D image of the retina. Using this technology, our opticians in London are able to better detect diseases including diabetic retinopathy, macular holes and age-related macular degeneration.
Congratulations to Our Wonderful Staff
Our whole team do a great job of looking after our patients, but we’d like to offer special congratulations to our locum optometrist Prinal Patel, who was shortlisted for Locum of the Year in the Association of Optometrists awards. Prinal is a real asset to our team, always furthering her qualifications and enhancing her optical experience to give her patients the best care possible.
With technology expanding and changing all the time, it is important for optometrists to stay ahead and up to date with the latest developments. Prinal uses her strong network of colleagues to build her industry knowledge, attending conferences and courses to broaden her knowledge. She has additional training in gonioscopy and BIO headsets among other things. You know you will be in good hands if you’re being treated by Prinal or any of our team!
Favourite Eyewear Brand of The Year
We’d like to take a moment to focus on Einstoffen eyewear, a brand that was introduced to our Farnham practice in May of 2019 and quickly became a favourite. Using natural materials such as wood, stone and acetate, Einstoffen is a little different to many mainstream eyewear brands.
Offering unique designs and a more natural look, they won 4 German design awards over the past 2 years and really need to be seen and appreciated in person. Stop by our Farnham practice to take a look at the range. We are always working to make high-quality, unique eyewear available in our practices every year, so you can look forward to more interesting brands being available in 2020.
